14 Faculty Members from SOE Named to Elsevier’s 2024 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” List

On March 25, global information analytics business Elsevier officially released its 2024 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list. This year, 14 professors from the School of Environment (SOE) at Tsinghua University were recognized in the field of Environmental Science and Engineering for their significant academic influence.

The honorees from the SOE include (in alphabetical order): Deng Shubo, Hao Jiming, He Kebin, Hou Deyi, Hu Hongying, Huang Xia, Li Jinhui, Li Junhua, Liu Huijuan, Qu Jiuhui, Wang Shuxiao, Wang Yujue, Wen Zongguo, and Wu Ye.

The 2024 list utilizes Scopus, Elsevier’s abstract and citation database, as the primary data source for the research output of Chinese scholars. The selection methodology was developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. The final list features a total of 6,388 scholars from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions across China, spanning 83 primary disciplines within 10 academic fields designated by the Ministry of Education. Notably, only 198 scholars nationwide were selected for the Environmental Science and Engineering category.

Since its debut in 2015, the "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" list has been published for 11 consecutive years. It serves as a prestigious barometer of academic leadership and research impact, garnering extensive attention from media and the global academic community. The continued presence of multiple SOE faculty members on this list underscores the School’s leading position and sustained excellence in the global environmental research landscape.
